As the international spotlight once again turns toward the glamour, prestige, and cultural influence of the Cannes Film Festival, entrepreneur and executive producer Shiva Helali returns this year with a stronger and more cinematic international presence than ever before.
Based in Dubai, Helali is recognized as an entrepreneur, investor, and business leader with more than 27 years of experience in international trade, strategic investment, and global business development. Over the years, she has built a reputation as one of the notable women within the international business landscape, combining entrepreneurial vision with a passion for culturally impactful projects.
Further reinforcing her growing international profile, Helali was recently selected among the featured personalities of the Game Changer project, affiliated with Guinness World Records and developed in collaboration with London Skills & Development — a recognition highlighting influential figures creating global impact across industries.
In recent years, however, Helali’s connection to Cannes has evolved far beyond business networking, gradually establishing a distinct cinematic identity. Today, she serves as Co-Founder and Executive Producer of The M Production Company, an independent European production house focused on psychologically driven storytelling, artistic cinema, and socially conscious narratives.
With Danish-European roots, the company has positioned itself within the independent film scene through projects that prioritize emotional depth, visual identity, and meaningful storytelling over conventional commercial formulas. Its productions aim to create artistic collaborations that unite international talents and diverse cultural perspectives.
At the center of this creative journey is Helali’s partnership with Dr. Mia Jan Malekzadeh — a Danish producer, director, and surgeon whose artistic approach has helped shape the cinematic vision of the company. Alongside a successful medical and aesthetics career across Europe, Dr. Malekzadeh has increasingly dedicated her work to cinema exploring psychological complexity, human emotion, and deeply personal stories.
Together, the two women have created a unique collaboration bridging the worlds of business, medicine, and cinema — a partnership that is gradually becoming one of the emerging voices within Europe’s independent film industry.
Helali officially entered the film world last year through the short film My Day, screened during Cannes-related programs and noticed within parts of the independent film community. Following its festival exposure, the film went on to receive the Best Short Film award at the Pune International Festival and continued gaining recognition across independent European festival circuits.
This year, Helali returns to Cannes with a far more ambitious project: the feature psychological drama Fisherman, where she serves as Executive Producer. Inspired by true events in Denmark, the film explores themes of identity, silence, cultural pressure, and the emotional complexity of human relationships. Its layered storytelling and artistic direction have already positioned the project among the promising independent productions attracting industry attention this season.
For Shiva Helali, cinema represents far more than investment or entertainment. Through The M Production Company, she continues building a bridge between art, culture, business, and human storytelling — reflecting a vision that is both strategic and deeply creative.
As Cannes prepares once again to welcome some of the world’s most influential names to its iconic red carpet, growing attention is turning toward Shiva Helali and her evolving cinematic journey — one that may become among the most defining chapters of her international career so far.
